"Play/Toy" Painting Project with 2nd Graders

Mrs. Holly's Second Grade Class participated in a painting project with local artist Sandra Wilensky.

The “Play/ Toy” Painting Project was inspired by a gift of stuffed animals from a Senior watercolor artist to a teacher of senior Watercolor artists to be used as painting subjects. This led to adults being teamed up with local children to paint paintings of play things. The children chose meaningful toys for inspiration for their acrylic on canvas paintings and the adults chose from the toys (previously selected by the children) for their watercolor paintings.

This project has culminated in a show of 21 pairs of “Play/Toy “paintings that can be viewed in the Meeting Room at the Maynard Library from July 10-August 30. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday, August 28 from 6-7 pm. This will be an exciting opportunity for the senior watercolor painters and second grade acrylic painters to meet each other. 

Maynard COA painting teacher Sandy Wilensky who has a studio at ArtSpace Maynard teamed up with Susan Arcelay, Green Meadow  Art teacher and Deb Holly's class of second grade students  at Green Meadow School to complete this rewarding project.

2019 All School Art Show 

Wednesday, April 10th from 6-8pm. 

in the Green Meadow Cafeteria 

Each student will have a framed artwork displayed in the cafeteria.  Frames will be sold for $25.00 and can be taken home that evening.  We will except Cash and Credit cards.  

If you choose not to purchase a frame the artwork will be returned to students at the end of the year.  

If you would like a reproduction of the art work simply find me or the Artome representative to complete a form.  Additional frames for reproductions can also be purchased that night.
