The first K-3rd Art Show was held in April. There were 435 framed artworks displayed and 67% of those frames were sold! I'm completely overwhelmed with the response and extremely grateful for the support. The beaming faces of students holding their framed artwork will stay with me for a very long time! I hope that you enjoyed the new format. Next year I hope to have some additional work displayed in the halls. The funds raised during the show have already been put to good use! Thus far I have purchased special jewels for Grade 3 Brazilian masks, Quik Stix tempura paint sticks (kids are LOVING these) and King Sized Sharpies for Romero Britto Hearts plus a few other "emergency" items. I will also be purchasing silk screens (super expensive!), printing inks, Gelli plates and some fun items such as Gel pens, and metallic Sharpies. These are items I could not normal purchase and will students for years to come! I'm very excited to plan silk screening lessons for next year. Again, thank you for your support. I'm confident that next year's show will be even better!
We are currently learning about the country of Brazil. Kindgarten, 1st Grade and 2nd Grade learned about Brazilian artist Romero Britto and made some colorful & happy artwork!
I can not wait to hang these colorful hearts in the school! Please keep an eye out for your child's art portfolio which will come home 1 week before school ends. It will have all the artwork for the year. Please feel free to email me with any questions. Happy Spring!
